Warrington Housing Association (WHA) was established in 1975 and provides a broad range of affordable homes and services across Warrington and are as passionate now as they have ever been about making Warrington a great place to live. WHA manage around 1,300 homes for families, older people and people with additional support needs, including leasehold and shared ownership properties. They have an operating turnover of over £6 million, have an active development programme and allocate a given % of their operational surplus each year to added value activities.

With the size of their portfolio and the activities they undertake, the need for a high performing, cohesive leadership team to lead the organisation into the future has never been higher.

Following a competitive tender, Eidos Consulting were successful in being awarded the contract to deliver a multi-faceted leadership development and coaching programme over a period of 18 months.

Fiona Evans, Head of Corporate Services at Warrington Housing Association, had this to say about the leadership development programme:

“Via our quarterly colleague survey and feedback from colleagues exiting the business, we were aware that there were inconsistencies with leadership support and communication between the different teams, which was having a negative impact on our colleagues experience of working for WHA. As such, we decided to seek external support in assisting us with a leadership development programme, with a view to aligning behaviours and styles. Following an extensive tender process, we partnered with Eidos.

Of all the tenders we received for this project, Eidos were the only organisation that had researched who we were and therefore presented a brief, that not only matched all of the elements of our scoping document, but also provided a realistic and supportive approach to achieving our goals.

Feedback from all involved has been extremely positive and the team are very comfortable and therefore honest, when discussing the issues and ways forward. The coaching sessions are proving to be a huge success, helping the team focus, whilst also developing our working relationships, using the DISC profiles to give a better understanding of how to approach and get the best out of each other.

The programme is well underway and has more than met our expectations. We are confident that by the end of the 18 months, we will have achieved all of our development goals, namely;

  • High functioning leadership team with reviewed function and purpose
  • Strengthened relationships between members
  • Aligned consistency of management approaches and organisational messaging
  • Demonstrable examples of Episodic, developmental and Transformational change
  • Improved Customer Satisfaction
  • Improved Colleague “recommend a friend” score, with greater overall satisfaction &  wellbeing and with an organisational culture of ‘One WHA’

On the Eidos team delivering the leadership development programme, Fiona had this to say:

“The colleagues at Eidos have been very supportive and have provided much needed clarity to our discussions and we couldn’t have developed our Leadership Charter without them.

Alan & Tony are not only easy to work with, but their communication is also excellent.  They have offered sound suggestions that have added to the quality of the programme, along with their extensive knowledge and sense of humour.

Paul is an excellent co-ordinator and facilitator and knows just how to bring a rowdy group, back to the topic in-hand – no mean feat!

Because of our relationship with the team, we were able to talk freely when designing our Leadership Charter, which Eidos then quickly pulled together into a concise working document, which is aligned with our organisational objectives and could be shared with our colleagues.  Had we been left to our own devices, this would have taken months and would have no doubt been too long winded, impractical and left in a virtual drawer, never to be seen again.

We would definitely recommend Eidos as a partner, in developing and delivering a leadership programme.  Our experience with the team has surpassed our expectations, they are intuitive, relatable and highly experienced.”
